Preparations for Nashik’s grand Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 are in full swing, marked by significant developments to the city’s iconic ‘Ram Kal Path.’ This ambitious infrastructure project, which connects the historic Shri Kalaram Temple and Godaghat in Panchavati, is set to receive an investment of ₹83.35 crore in its second phase.
Nashik’s Iconic ‘Ram Kal Path’ Gets a Whopping ₹83 Crore Boost Ahead of Simhastha 2027
Originally estimated at ₹75.88 crore, the second phase encountered increased tender costs, prompting the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) to cover an additional ₹7.46 crore from its own funds. The central government’s tourism department has approved ₹99.14 crore for the entire project, which now stands at an estimated total of ₹146.10 crore. To bridge the funding gap, the state government and NMC will jointly manage the remaining ₹46.96 crore. Recently, a proposal for this fund allocation from the state’s pilgrimage development budget was approved and forwarded to the Tourism Development Corporation.
Expertise for the project has been secured through Gujarat-based consultancy firm H.C.P. Design Planning and Management, overseeing meticulous planning and execution. The project’s first phase, focusing on the restoration of historical temples and structures around Ramkund and Shri Kalaram Temple, was executed by Savani Heritage Conservation Pvt. Ltd., involving an investment of approximately ₹22 crore.
Awarded to Mumbai’s Skyway Infra project Pvt. Ltd., the second phase promises numerous infrastructural enhancements designed to enrich visitor experiences. Key features include a modern changing facility near Ramkund, prominent entrance gates, aesthetic arcade umbrellas, durable cobblestone pathways, solid stone constructions, facade improvements, comprehensive electrification, and contemporary restroom facilities.
Currently awaiting approval from the Standing Committee, the ₹83.35 crore proposal marks a significant step toward making Nashik a world-class pilgrimage and tourist destination ahead of the 2027 mega-event.
