Simhastha 2028: CM Orders Alternative Markets, Tent Cities

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav reviewed Simhastha 2028 preparations in Ujjain with local MLAs and public representatives on Oct 19, 2026. He asked officials to plan alternative markets and a rehabilitation plan for utensil and gold-silver traders affected by road widening. Official Dates

March 27 to May 27, 2028 - 62 days. This has been formally announced by the Madhya Pradesh government and the Akhada Parishad.

Shahi Snan Dates

April 22, 2028 (Chaitra Purnima), May 6, 2028 (Vaishakh Amavasya), and May 9, 2028 (Akshaya Tritiya). All three confirmed.

Infrastructure Budget

₹25,000 crore committed by the Madhya Pradesh government - approximately 7x the budget of Simhastha 2016 (₹3,500 crore).

Expected Attendance

40+ crore (400+ million) pilgrims over 62 days. The May 9 Akshaya Tritiya Shahi Snan alone is expected to draw 12-15 crore people in a single day.
