How far along is the Simhastha Bypass?
On Oct 26, MPRDC officials said subgrade work is complete on the 19.8 km Simhastha Bypass. GSB and culvert construction is in progress.
The Commissioner asked for monthly targets to finish on time. Departmental engineers must be at the site regularly, and the quality of construction material must be specially tested and inspected.
What were the orders for the Ujjain-Jaora greenfield four-lane?
The Commissioner and Collector Roushan Kumar Singh inspected construction on the Sodang-Unhel road section. On the 98.7 km four-lane, subgrade, GSB and culvert work is under way.
He asked for clear targets matched to progress, and more resources if needed to finish on time. Neither this road nor the bypass has a final date in the release.
What is planned for Kala Patthar Chauraha?
Officials also inspected Kala Patthar Chauraha, between Nanakheda and Lal Gate. The PWD Simhastha Division must prepare a detailed plan to organise traffic at the chauraha and join the service roads, so that movement is smoother and safer.
The plan must account for vehicles coming from Indore, vehicles heading from the city towards Indore, and nearby residential areas. Officials were asked to submit it soon.
Who was penalised for delays, and what happened to the Harifatak underpass?
In inspection no. 101, penalties totalling Rs 5 lakh were ordered on two agencies for delays in construction. The post does not name them.
In the same inspection, the departments concerned were told to prepare a joint plan to fix the drawing and alignment of the Harifatak underpass. It is about 600 metres long and is meant to ease pilgrim movement. No completion date was given.
Why this matters to pilgrims right now
If you plan to reach Ujjain from the Indore side, Kala Patthar Chauraha is on your way. Officials are now asking for a traffic and service road plan for that exact spot.
Monthly targets on the bypass and Jaora four-lane make progress easier to measure. The penalty shows delays are being acted on.
