Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Union Minister Jitendra Singh took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj on Saturday. The Uttar Pradesh administration confirmed the event surpassed 500 million participants, making it the largest global gathering in history.

Leaders’ Participation and Statements

CM Sawant performed the ‘Amrit Snan’ ritual with his cabinet members, family, and MLAs. He praised UP CM Yogi Adityanath for seamless arrangements and highlighted special trains from Goa for devotees. “Thousands from Goa are here. Witnessing this 140-year event is a privilege,” he said.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh called the experience “supernatural” in an X post, stating, “The Maha Kumbh in our lifetime is a blessing.”

Historic Attendance Figures

The Uttar Pradesh government reported staggering participation:

  • 17 million on Paush Purnima
  • 35 million on Makar Sankranti
  • 76.4 million on Mauni Amavasya
  • 25.7 million on Basant Panchami
  • 14 million on Magh Purnima

By Friday afternoon, 7.9 million devotees had bathed at Triveni Sangam. Over 200,000 Kalpavasis and 7.7 million visitors attended on Friday alone.

Railway Footfall Highlights

Indian Railways reported 2.79 lakh passengers departed Prayagraj station by 6 AM Saturday. On Friday, 10.47 lakh passengers used 328 trains. Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who also visited, termed the Kumbh a “testament to India’s unity.”
