Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to fast-track all infrastructure and civic works for the upcoming Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027, ensuring they meet top standards.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Sahyadri Guest House, Fadnavis emphasised that the Kumbh Mela is not just a spiritual congregation but also a reflection of India’s cultural heritage. He instructed that the Nashik Ring Road project be completed on time and land acquisition for the Sadhu Gram (tent city) be expedited.
The Chief Minister assured devotees that the Godavari River at Ramkund and other ghats will remain clean throughout the event. He called for top priority to be given to sewage management, sanitation, and civic facilities around key pilgrimage zones, railway stations, and airports.
He further directed all departments to release funds immediately and ensure coordination with religious bodies while setting up the Sadhu Gram.
To strengthen crowd management and safety, Fadnavis ordered the installation of centralised CCTV systems and use of AI-based monitoring tools. A ‘Digital Kumbh’ initiative will also be rolled out to enhance event management and publicity.
Departments were instructed to respond promptly to any misinformation or negative reports related to the Kumbh.
Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with ministers Chhagan Bhujbal, Dada Bhuse, and Girish Mahajan, attended the meeting. Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar and DGP Rashmi Shukla were also present, along with local MLAs and MPs.
