Preparations for Simhastha Kumbh 2028 Gain Momentum

Ujjain: The groundwork for the grand Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2028 in Ujjain has officially begun. A four-member delegation from Madhya Pradesh, led by Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Dubey, visited Nashik on Wednesday, October 15, to study its successful model of Kumbh Mela planning and management.

Meeting with Nashik Administration

The Ujjain delegation — including Divisional Commissioner Ashish Singh, Collector Roshan Kumar Singh, and Ujjain Municipal Commissioner Abhilash Mishra — met senior Nashik officials at the office of Divisional Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam.

During the meeting, Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, Collector Ayush Prasad, and Additional Commissioner Karishma Nair shared detailed insights into Nashik–Trimbakeshwar’s Kumbh Mela preparations.

Nashik’s Model: Infrastructure, Facilities, and Security

Dr. Gedam presented an overview of the Ministerial Committee and the Kumbh Mela Authority, explaining the ongoing development projects including road expansion, ghats, sewage systems, and the Ramkal Path project.

The team was briefed on several key areas:

  • Development Works: Road widening, ghat improvement, drainage, irrigation, and urban upgrades.
  • Transport & Facilities: Rail, air, and road connectivity, along with expanded parking zones.
  • Essential Services: Water supply, sanitation, toilets, and Sadhu Gram arrangements.
  • Safety & Crowd Control: CCTV surveillance, police deployment, and emergency response measures.

Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri detailed ongoing civic works, while Collector Ayush Prasad opened the session with an overview of Nashik’s operational framework.

Ujjain Extends Invitation

At the conclusion of the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Dubey and Collector Roshan Kumar Singh invited Nashik’s senior officials to visit Ujjain to observe its preparations firsthand.

Later, the Ujjain team visited Tapovan, Sewage Project sites, and the Ramkund complex to study Nashik’s on-ground arrangements.
